A PE-backed life science company located in the Dedham, MA area is active in their search for a permanent Accounting Manager.
Reporting to a Controller, the Accounting Manager will oversee a small staff, focus on inventory and cost accounting, technical accounting research/ implementation, consolidations and financial reporting.
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in contributing to the company's growth plans.
Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager includes:
Manage a small team comprising 1-3 direct reports, including Staff Accountants.
Assist management in system implementations as required.
Actively engage in the annual audit process, coordinating with external resources to prepare audit schedules and analyses.
Assist in the company's financial reporting process and support the preparation of US tax returns and provision.
Provide backup support and guidance for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
Develop accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to foster an effective internal control environment.
Participate in or lead discussions on technical accounting matters, aiding in the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards.
Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, validating proper revenue recognition across all business units and product lines.
Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring prompt and accurate preparation of journal entries and account analysis.
Conduct inventory analysis and reconciliations, collaborating with the manufacturing team on standard costing and physical inventories.
Handle fixed asset analysis and reconciliations, including inventory transfers.
Ensure adherence to accounting guidelines and planned spending levels for capital expenditures.
