Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer: Will plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes at Norwood with a primary focus on machining. He/She will develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
Responsibilities & Qualifications
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process New Product Releases for machining operations which includes:
Performing cost reduction activities, including process improvements, conversions and new process development.
Implementing systemic improvement activities, including streamlining, standardization of documentation, change control, quality, and transfer processes.
Assisting and implement quality and safety control and improvements. - Lead specific capital expenditure projects.
Participate in the implementation of TEOA (Lean Manufacturing) Tools, such as 5S+1, Standard Work, Visual Factory, Cell Design, QCPC. Six Sigma, 3P, and others.
This role may involve occasional travel.
Primary focus will be on the completion of projects within the defined lead times, some schedule flexibility might be necessary. Performing cost analysis.
Ability and willingness to troubleshoot on production floor a must.
Creation of Standard Work - Reviewing the potential of manufacturability. - Performing load and materials plan assessment. - Making sourcing decisions. - Drafting activities. - Fixture design, tooling design capabilities required. - Implementation of prove out process ensuring compliance with quality standards.
Performing PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
Individual should have CNC screw machining programming experience
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
BS in Engineering, preferably a BSME or equivalent.
Strong project management skills - Knowledge of AutoCADand/or ProE
Computer skills is highly needed - Ability to work towards completion of projects within defined schedules.
Manufacturing engineering experience in a machining environment is preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a rapidly changing set of objectives.
Cam equipment knowledge and experience is a plus. - Lean manufacturing certifications are a plus.
